Swedish Massage

This Popular Modality can be very Gentle and Relaxing... It involves Long Smooth strokes(Effluerage), Kneading(Petrissage), Medium Pressure and Circular movements or Friction, across Muscle Fibers, Skin and Soft Tissues.

Light Fingertip Massage

This is primarily used for Nerves and can Relax to the point of sleeping or "cat napping."  Strokes are very smooth and blissful, only the superficial layer of skin is treated.  Upon request, Karen can use powder, oil, or easy glide lotion during your Light Fingertip Massage. Great for Midday Powernap or Soothing Evening Massage after Work.

Relaxation/ Spa Massage

Medium to light strokes are used as well as kneading (petrissage.)  Muscles and soft tissue are relaxed, soft lighting and music lend a serene setting.  This type is great for stress relief and helps insomnia. The focus is on relaxation... no deep tissue, tapotement, traction or hard stretching.

Lomi Lomi Massage

This relaxing massage comes from Polynesia and incorporates long flowing strokes utilizing the therapist's hands and forearms to gently sweep your tension away. It is a very thorough massage, releasing tension throughout the body in repetitive motions with the ability to treat ventral and dorsal body concurrently.

Hot Stone Massage

Smoothly polished stones are gently warmed to the proper temperature and then placed along the soft tissues of mostly, the back.  This deep heat penetrates to help relax tight muscles and helps lessen back pain due to muscle strain. Warm smooth stones and oil are then used for massaging of the back.  A very nice treatment!

Jacuzzi Hydrotherapy Massage

Water is used as a Medium, instead of the Massage Table.  Hydro involves Floating, Lifting, Traction/Decompression, Spine Manipulation, Stretching and Massage in the Jacuzzi seats, all by Karen; in a 15 Foot long, 1500 Gallon, Heated Indoor Spa with 4 Jacuzzi stations and a "Pool" area. Muscles can Stretch and Contract freely in low impact/weightlessness and with Water Resistance. Ventral and Dorsal massage synonymously is a wonderful sensation. $20

Stimulus Deprivation

For the Stressed, this therapy provides Low or Absent light, Sound and Tactical Stimulation.  Totally Underwater or just your Ear/Auditory, provides the Absence of Sound.  Sometimes we get what I call, the "Concrete Brain Syndrome", when we are weighted with so much on our Minds, that we really seek Silence, Quiet, Little Sensory Stimulation at all.  You are floated on a Raft in Darkness, Quiet and in Warm Water; submersing the Ears.  You can talk about Stressors, or Not, and Unwind.  This gives the Mind time to Relax, Heal from Problems/Grief/Work/Relationship types of Stress and feel an Unpressured Environment of Nothingness. You awake after a period to a "Starry Sky" of Lights on the Ceiling with Tones of "Discovery" and hopefully a new Mind, reset to Tackle problems with a Renewed Outlook, Angle or Focus. Can be combined with a Table or Hydro Jacuzzi Massage to feel Body Sensation and get out of your Head and away from Problems. $20

Body Scrub

This treatment uses exfoliating lotion, or sugars, and a loofah cloth to polish and rejuvenate your skin to a nice, smooth feel. Can be used on the feet, hands, face or body.  Dead skin is sloughed off, as well as excess massage lotion, for a excellent finish to your session. $20/Area

Deep Tissue Massage

Deeper layers of Muscle and Connective tissue are palpated in a Deep Tissue Massage,  with more Pressure, Friction techniques across the grain of the muscle and Myofacial Release. Active and Passive Stretching and Thai Stretching assist in getting to the deeper layers of tissue. Deep tissue massage is used for Athletes, chronically Tight or Painful muscles, Repetitive Strain, Postural problems, or latent Recovery from injury. People often feel sore for one to two days after Deep Tissue massage, but then regain much relief from Soreness, Knots and limited Range of Motion.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is used by people who are Active, Athletes or Work out often. The focus is on Preventing and Treating injury and enhancing Athletic Performance.  A combination of techniques are used, strokes are generally  peppier than a Relaxation massage, like a "Pregame Massage" in order to stretch muscles and increase flexibility. Passive and Active Stretching work wonderfully to reach imbedded muscles of the hips, shoulders and legs. Tapotement and Facilitated stretching are common techniques utilized in Sports Massage. "Post Game" helps to relax muscle stress.

Therapeutic Massage and Pain Mgmt/Scars

This type of massage targets specific areas and alleviates inflammation while increasing circulation.  Therapeutic massage is most often used to treat medical conditions, whether occasional or chronic.  The reduction of fluid retention and increased circulation speed healing,  and  relieves discomfort. Helpful for for people with Lower back pain, Neck and Shoulder Pain, Post Surgery, Tennis elbow, Sciatica, Chronic pain, Surgical scars, and Fibromyalgia, just to name a few. A Neurostimulator, called a "Dolphin" with low electric charge, may be used to relieve pain and/or erase scars.  It has proven to be very successful.
